Change Control
The initial environment at 1800Flowers.com was very immature. 1800Flowers.com was a quickly developing company with double digit growth each year. My first involvement with the company as a consultant was to aid the company in its growth from a 10 PC (apple) network to the mature infrastructure it has today. The current environment has several thousand desktops, several hundred servers, and a network infrastructure spanning the USA. Changes to systems were performed haphazardly, at will, without regard to the impact of other systems.
	As Vice President of IT Operations I implemented a Change Control process to limit the risks associated with constant change. After gathering all requirements, meeting with other IT organizations as well as our users I developed a change control process that allowed the flexibility to change the environment to meet business needs while maintaining the control and planning needed to implement the changes without impacting other environments.
	After implementing the change control process I held weekly meeting with each group to review proposed changes as well as the escalation process to have these changes approved. Each change was also monitored for any adverse effects and the need to perform an back out procedures as planned in advance.
